DESCRIPTION
The Shop Floor Assistant is responsible for assisting in the efficient operation of the manufacturing floor. This role involves a variety of tasks to support production, maintenance, and logistics, ensuring smooth and safe operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Set up and Operation: Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing machinery and equipment.
Production Support: Operate production line equipment, monitor the production process, and perform basic testing and quality checks. - Material Handling: Prepare materials for manufacturing, pack goods for shipment, and organize dispatch.
- Maintenance: Clean and maintain work areas and machinery to ensure safety and functionality.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of machine operation and production output.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Team Support: Communicate issues or malfunctions to supervisors and support other team members as needed.
- Departmental Assistance: Assist employees in multiple departments depending on needs.
- Assembly: Participate in the assembly of products and components.
- Sawing: Operate sawing equipment to cut materials to specified dimensions.
- Welding: Assist with welding tasks as required.
- Finishing: Perform finishing tasks such as sanding, polishing, and painting.
- Bending: Operate bending machines to shape materials.
- Inventory Upkeep: Maintain and organize inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Job Order Picking: Pick job orders accurately and efficiently.
- Prep for Shipping: Prepare products for shipping, including packaging and labeling.
- Loading/Unloading Trucks: Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Technical Skills: Basic technical skills and hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and operating machinery.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for quality assurance and record-keeping.
- Communication: Good communication skills to report issues and collaborate with team members.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Forklift Operations: Experience with operating forklifts is preferred but not required.
- Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with basic computer operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Lifting: Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Standing: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift.
- Manual Dexterity: Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Climbing: Occasional climbing of ladders or stairs.
- Visual Acuity: Good vision for inspecting products and reading instructions.
