History
In 1994, Mike Post began rebuilding feeder wagons on his dairy farm located north of Rock Valley as a side business. His hands-on expertise and dedication to supporting local farms quickly gained recognition, leading to a growing demand for his services and ultimately the need to offer new mixer wagons and cattle feeding equipment.
In 2008, Post Equipment was incorporated when Mike purchased the current location of the business, marking the beginning of what would evolve into a diverse and dynamic group of companies. Today, Post Equipment maintains a large inventory of new and used mixer wagons and cattle equipment, while also providing farmers & dealers with high-quality parts and services.
In the same year, Post Metal Recycling was established, as the property purchased for Post Equipment included an area for a combine and salvage yard. This division focuses on residential and commercial scrap metal recycling, expanding the company’s reach beyond agriculture and addressing the recycling needs of the broader community.
In 2015, Mike and his team launched Ironwood 53 with the vision of manufacturing components for the feed mixer wagons that Post Equipment was rebuilding. The goal was to provide high-quality feed mixers and custom manufactured parts to international customers and dealers, further diversifying the company’s offerings.
In 2020, Ironwood 53 seized the opportunity to incorporate the manufacturing of Herd-Boss Feeders (also known as “cake feeders”) into their portfolio of custom-manufactured parts. Leveraging the team’s extensive knowledge of feeder wagons and equipment, the Herd-Boss product line quickly expanded to include various types of feed mixing equipment, including vertical mixers*.
The year 2023 marked a significant milestone with the acquisition of Sioux Automation Center (SAC), a respected supplier of agricultural equipment. SAC was renowned for its premium product line, including reel mixers, 4-auger mixers, roller mills, and baggers. We are pleased to integrate these products into our existing Herd-Boss line. This strategic acquisition further strengthens Post Companies’ position as a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality equipment, feed mixers, and parts.
In 2024, Ironwood 53 was rebranded as Post Manufacturing to align more closely with the company’s unified vision of collaboration and growth.
Today, Post Companies operates as a thriving, multifaceted organization, encompassing Post Equipment, Post Metal Recycling, Post Manufacturing, and Herd-Boss. All divisions are located on the same campus in Rock Valley, where they work together to serve customers both locally and internationally.
