Economical Option for Penta Vertical Truck Mixer
Post Equipment teamed up with a local farmer to put a new 800 cuft. low-profile Penta vertical mixer on an ’03 International truck. The farmer is feeding a heavy fat-cattle mix approximately 25,000 pounds per load. The mixer was mounted hydraulically on the 2003 International truck with a 466 motor. This saved the farmer from buying a new truck to mount the mixer which results in a more reasonable-priced package, and it is working great for the farmer!

Penta Demo Results
We just returned from a demo on a 500 cuft Penta vertical mixer…
The dairy farmer was previously using a 2 auger horizontal mixer. After 4 days of using the Penta vertical, the cows went up 2.5-3 lbs. If you do the math that equals 480# per day on 160 cows and 14,400 per month, x $14cwt = $2016 per month extra - not a bad payoff!
Why did the cows go up?
- more consistent mix (no dead spots)
- less compact / fluffier mix = longer bunk life
- more even particle length

Penta Fat Cattle Ration
Post Equipment is demoing a Penta mixer at a local farm with the heaviest feed we have seen in our history of selling wagons. A 650 cubic ft. Penta vertical mixer is holding 30,000# of the feed. This equals 46# per cubic ft.
A “standard” fat cattle ration would be around 30# per cuft. and a dairy ration 24-28#. Penta is build well enough to handle this with ease, that makes for a super efficient load of feed. It really saves on man hours per head of feeding cattle!
